REMEMBER
“History is, and must ever continue to be, next to God’s Word, the richest foundation of wisdom, and the surest guide to all successful practical activity.”
“History is, and must ever continue to be, next to God’s Word, the richest foundation of wisdom, and the surest guide to all successful practical activity.”
Jesus said “The one who obeys Me is the one who loves me.” That’s the bottom line.
“Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you” Hebrews 13:17.
In the Bible, God has established the parameters, and He says, “Stay within these and things will be great; cross the line and there will be consequences!”
Through faith in Him alone, we are pardoned, we are justified, acquitted of our sins. The Father’s just-wrath was poured out on Jesus at His crucifixion. We receive the awesome gift of forgiveness solely by faith in Christ and what He did for us.
The next time we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, let’s ponder deeply the meaning of these simple-yet-profound symbols, the bread and the cup — effective reminders of the ultimate sacrifice: Christ’s forfeiting of His life in exchange for ours.
we are in Christ, we are new people! The old ways are gone (or at least dying off) and new desires and choices typify our life: “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ,” writes Paul, “he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come” II Corinthians 5:17.
If we need to readjust it, if we need to take care of some “business” with God, the apostle John presents this wonderful provision in I John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, He [God] is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” I John 1:9.
The Word of God is a torch provided for each of us. What if it rains? What if the wind blows? What if the fires of persecution come? If you will hold high the torch, it will light your way home!
We don’t always see what God is doing, but if we’re walking with Him we’re being used whether we know it or not!
