TONSILS, YOU, AND THE CHURCH
There’s not one part of your body that isn’t important — and there is no Christian that isn’t important to Christ’s body, the Church.
There’s not one part of your body that isn’t important — and there is no Christian that isn’t important to Christ’s body, the Church.
God has a way (lots of ways actually!) of confirming our natural, God-given talents, abilities, gifts to be used to honor Him and bless others. What are you good at? What things do you enjoy doing? The answer to these questions may be a help in finding your niche in life, your contribution.
If you’ve been praying for someone’s salvation, don’t give up hope! If they’re still alive it’s not over yet! If you’ve never responded to Christ, this is your day.
There are risks involved when we choose to belong; when we choose to care; when we choose to serve — but the rewards far outweigh the rip-offs. It’s only within that context of fellowship, of choosing to belong, that we become Christ like!
As to the sheep of Christ’s fold, only the presence of their Shepherd, their Master, and Protector, will quiet and reassure them when danger lurks — be it specter or substantive in nature. “The LORD is my Shepherd…” (Psalm 23).
Some of the most immature Christians I’ve known could quote Scripture and defend doctrine, yet were unloving, self-righteous, and judgmental.
Some Christian biographers gloss over the humanity of godly people and imply that if you don’t pray for 10 hours a day, move to the jungle, and plan to die as a martyr you can forget spiritual maturity. This is discouraging for the average believer.
I love to open the windows in the morning and hear the birds singing! It’s occurred to me that only smaller birds sing! Crows, vultures, turkeys — forget it! But the little ones sing beautifully! Here in the Pacific Northwest (i.e. Brookings, Oregon) we have the lark, junco, chickadee, finch, towhee, etc. I especially love to hear doves — so peaceful.
Hopefully, our chosen way of life is bringing glory to our great God and blessing to our loved ones.
Aren’t you glad our walk with the Lord, as believers in Jesus, is not one of legalism and punishment? To be sure, we are to present ourselves completely to the Lord, willing to do His bidding — but when we fall short we are not punished; instead, we are disciplined, corrected, admonished to forsake our sin. Once we do that, we simply continue our daily walk with Jesus.
