The great reformer-theologian John Calvin (1509-1564) used the Latin metaphor theatrum gloriae to describe creation the “grand theatre” in which God’s glory, power, wisdom, and goodness are on public display, “being too clear to escape the notice of anyone, however obtuse.”

God doesn’t expect us to know what’s right in every situation we face. What pleases Him though is when we want to do right. I believe there are many of us who truly want to give the Lord our best; the cry of our heart is to be led in His glorious will day in and day out. WHERE WAS GOD?

The atheistic philosopher John Stuart Mill argued that if God is all-powerful and also good, then God could not allow a world of evil and suffering. If God is all-powerful but does not stop evil, said Mill, then God is not good. If God is good but does not stop evil, said Mill, then God must not be omnipotent.
